Chiefs Stomp the Cowboys: 32-0

Battling 100 plus degree weather, the Chiefs rolled into Cleveland H.S. with a purpose: to put to rest the myth that they squeaked by the Cowboys(Grey) squad in a pre-season scrimmage earlier in this month at Taft H.S.

Although the Chiefs came out a bit flat, and turned the ball over twice in the first half, they managed to rebound and take a 20 - 0 lead going into the half. Bookie redeemed himself quickly after fumbling on the first play from scrimmage by intercepting a deflected pass just two plays laters and returning it for 6 to open up the scoring. The Chiefs defense stuffed the Cowboys time and again, and began to move the ball themselves by ground and air. The ground game was dominant behind Cameron's powerful North/South running, and Bookie's slashing cutback runs. Coach Anderson wanted to experiment with the passing game more today and he had success on several calls as Casey connected with Mateen, Bookie, and Cameron for long touchdown passes, and Mateen again on an extra point conversion. JD punched one in on the ground to represent the running backs.

Defensively, the Chiefs were sound as they have been all season. JD had a huge day debuting at D-End, Julian brought hat at Middle Backer, as Jauq, Casey, Bookie, and Mateen all had fine efforts resulting in several tackles for losses. Sekou showed promise at Free Safety and had a touchdown saving tackle on the kickoff team. Anaye showed quickness at the D-Tackle position, and both Cruz and Ian saw there first game time of the season working in on the Defensive line rotation.
